Gulf Craft sponsors VB for more than $60,000

Gulf Craft sponsors VB for more than $60,000

Gulf Craft has sponsored VB Sports Club for the rest of this year and the next at a price very well in excess of $60,000 (Rf771,000), VB officials have said.

Speaking at a meeting held at VB offices Tuesday afternoon, Board member Ibrahim Rafeeu said that the two-year agreement was signed between VB and Gulf Craft after the FA Cup Football tournament was over.

“The agreement was finalized while the Gulf Craft Chairman was here on vacation,” he said. “It was a considerably higher amount than last year but Gulf Craft doesn’t want to reveal the exact amount.”

Gulf Craft, the biggest yacht maker and boat builder in the middle-east, had sponsored VB last year also for the whopping sum of $60,000; the highest amount that a local club has ever been sponsored for.

The Chairman of Gulf Craft Mohamed Hussain al Shaalee had personally attended and watched the FA Cup final match which VB had won and had given a bonus of $5000 to each player in the team after the victory.

“He was very happy to have been able to watch the final match and that VB won it,” Rafeeu said. “That could be the reason why he paid such a higher amount to sponsor the team this year. This will benefit both parties since they really want to market their company in Maldives through VB. They had made long term plans around VB and they wish to develop the relationship they have with us and provide whatever assistance they can.”
